The Real Reason Why X Was Banned in Pakistan

The Interior Ministry informed the Islamabad High Court of everything they knew about why social media platform X was banned.

The report shows the legal and factual errors in the application against blocking X. It stresses that X is not registered in Pakistan and does not follow Pakistani law.

Because people don’t follow the rules set by the government, limits have had to be put in place to protect national security.

The report says that the main reason for the ban on X is to stop people from using it to spread radical ideas and false information, not to limit people’s freedom of speech. The Ministry decided to take action against X because it wants to keep people safe and protect national security.

Additionally, the research shows that X was blocked because it did not follow Pakistani laws. The cyber crimes unit of the Federal Investigation Agency asked X to stop accounts that were spreading false information about the Chief Justice of Pakistan, but X did not respond.

The report says that the recent event happened because the government is trying to control social media sites and make sure they follow Pakistani law. Fears of X are supported by the ban, and it does not go against anyone’s basic rights.

In response to the court, the Interior Ministry made it clear that the request to block X does not violate basic rights and can be thrown out at the start.

The Ministry’s stance makes it clear that the ban on X is meant to encourage law-abiding use of social media platforms, showing that it is committed to protecting the rights of people and national security. Taking this strong action against X is a big step toward reaching these important goals.
