Once Again, Social Media Websites Experience Disturbances in Pakistan.

Pakistani social media websites are down again, right before a political party’s announced online activity, as was widely expected.

X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are presently unavailable in Pakistan.

Netblocks, an internet monitoring service, has verified the blocking of Pakistani social networking sites. “Live metrics show a nation-scale disruption to social media platforms across Pakistan, including X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube,” it stated in a post on X.

The country’s social media platforms have gone down for the third time in less than a month, coinciding with political parties’ plans to host virtual power shows.

There was a widespread social media outage on December 17 and January 7, according to Netblocks.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been mum on the matter, despite speculation that the suspension of social media platforms is the result of the interim administration.

Dr. Umar Saif, the country’s caretaker minister for IT and telecom, is strangely quiet on the matter of the not-so-mysterious social media shutdown. Saif is quite active on these platforms.
